An Electrical Engineer from the University of Chennai, A.K.T. Chari is the Senior Advisor of IDFC. Under his guidance, IDFC has successfully entrenched its credentials in the realm of infrastructure finance and development. He has been instrumental in undertaking several strategic initiatives in the areas of Energy, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Integrated Transportation and Urban Infrastructure which would significantly impact the process of infrastructure development in India. Mr. Chari has also been intimately connected with IDFC’s foray into new business areas its growth.

Prior to joining IDFC in May 1999 as Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Chari was with the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI), the largest Financial Institution in India for nearly 3 decades. He was involved in several key assignments and headed the Infrastructure Group of IDBI. Key initiatives involving strategic decisions in the areas of project finance were undertaken under his leadership.
