Assignment: Study on the growth trends in India for identification of new locations for Inland Container Depots and Container Freight Stations.

Project Description: The assignment involved an analysis of the growth centers (for containerized cargo) in India, and identification of expansion or new terminal needs for CONCOR. The elements of work included:

• Studying the existing economic, industrial and regulatory environment at the national and regional level to assess current as well as future containerized traffic potential.
  
  
• Assessment of existing Inland Container Depots or Container Freight Stations and operators to understand service offerings.
  
  
• Assessment of new logistics ventures proposed in the region, and impact of these projects on CONCOR.
  
  
• Assessment of existing port infrastructure in India and the new port capacity initiatives and its impact on hinterland logistics for container movement.
  
  
• Recommended locations and project sizing for new Inland Container Depots and Container Freight Stations, roll-out schedule, organizational structure and associated financials.
  

Market Analysis

Client: Leading multinational mining company.

Assignment: Bulk material logistics assessment in the iron & steel sector.

Project Description: The project involved commodity analysis for iron ore, coking coal and steel. The elements of the study included:

• Analysis of existing origin-destination profile, modes of transport used, handling mechanisms and infrastructure bottlenecks.
  
  
• Extensive forecasting exercise to project the future traffic volumes through various ports.
  
  
• Detailed analysis of the Freight-on-Board (FOB) cost for existing movement of the commodities and projected FOB costs based on the proposed infrastructure development.
