A Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a geographical region that has economic laws that are more liberal than a country's typical economic laws. Since 2005, the SEZ policy in India has attracted large-scale developer interest, with approximately:

  • 263 formally approved SEZs.
  • Over 1,750 sq. km. of promised development.
  • Over Rs. 300,000 crore of expected investment for the formally approved SEZs by December 2009.
  • Creation of over 4 million additional jobs by the formally approved SEZs by December 2009.

  • Advisory
  • Design and Engineering
  • Capacity Building

Feedback is working extensively with the best names involved in SEZ development across the following broad areas:
  • Policy and Environmental Overview: Feedback undertakes a Policy & Environmental overview at the central and state level, identifies Central and State SEZ interfaces, develops State Support Agreements and helps in defining the administrative framework.

  • Market Assessment: Market segmentation, location attractiveness, sectoral analysis and GTM (Go to Market) strategies are a part of market assessment services provided by Feedback.

  • Conceptualization and Business Planning: This encompasses SEZ concept definition, SEZ configuration (for both processing and non processing area), infrastructure requirement analysis, utility provisioning, analysis of logistical requirements, infrastructure and development costing and phasing, construction and sale planning and financial modeling.

  • Implementation Support

Feedback’s Engineering and Project Management Division provides the following services in SEZs:
  • Feasibility Studies
  • Land-use plans
  • Local Area planning
  • GIS Mapping
  • Master Planning
  • Detailed Project Reports
  • Detailed Engineering
  • Procurement Management
  • Quantity Surveying

Large-scale infrastructure or industrial developments, at the National level or at the State level, always have been seen to incur social costs. Moreover, in the wake of Greenfield projects being taken up by the private sector, very recently the SEZ projects in different parts of the country with the ensuing policy of globalization, rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) issues are certainly to emerge from such initiatives.

We at CBD, Feedback Ventures work adopting a participatory approach towards developing R&R plans to achieve a win-win situation for concerned stakeholders in the process of development.

Feedback’s Capacity Building Division is working towards achieving the objective of benefiting every member of the community, either directly or indirectly affected by the SEZs entry through the following services:

  • Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R & R): Feedback’s Capacity Building Division designs and implements resettlement and rehabilitation plans for SEZ project affected persons.

  • Socio-Economic Impact Assessments: Designing and conducting socio-economic assessments and impact studies for action research in the sector.

  • Human Resource Solutions: Formally approved SEZs would create an additional 4 million jobs by the year 2009. Feedback provides recruitment services for the sector.
